Hybrid struts combine lightweight composite material tubes with high-performance metallic fittings, offering a turnkey solution with excellent value for money. Each strut is tailored to the specific application through careful material selection and optimized layup design to achieve the desired mechanical and thermal properties.
The composite tubes can be manufactured using filament winding, thermoplastic, or prepreg technologies and are available in circular, rectangular, or other custom cross-section geometries. The metallic fittings can be produced from aluminium, titanium, Invar, or other materials depending on performance requirements.
The connection between the composite tubes and metallic fittings is achieved through bonded and riveted joints, qualified across a wide range of temperatures and load conditions to ensure reliable structural performance. Additional features such as threads, close-tolerance holes, bearings, and other customized interfaces can be integrated on demand.
To further meet application-specific requirements, metal parts can also receive surface treatments, heat treatment, and special thread inserts such as Helicoil systems.
