Products and Services

The focus of our presentation at IAC Paris 2022 will lie on the further developments of our state-of-the-art radio communication solutions.

We will showcase InCommand, a low cost, lightweight system for instant tasking of cubesats and small leo satellites, which we recently launched together with Inmarsat. InCommand provides a global tasking capability via Inmarsat’s ELERA L-band GEO satellites using our XLink SDR platform.

One and a half years ago, we started to cooperate with WORK Microwave and recently agreed to further intensify our successful cooperation. One achievement of this partnership is one of the world's first end-to-end CubeSat solutions supporting satellite communications for both ground and space segments.

Our experts will demonstrate how customers can benefit from this fully-featured bidirectional communication system with a seamless connection between IQ spacecom's XLink SDR platform and WORK Microwave's AX-60 IP ground modem.

XLink SDR Platform

XLink is an advanced transceiver system for X, S or L band communication links of small satellites in LEO environment. The mechanical dimensions fit for 1U CubeSat as well as for larger satellites. The radio interface and protocol are developed according to standard CCSDS and DVB-S2 protocols. (XLink is developed in cooperation with TU Berlin)

End-to-end CubeSat solution

As one of the world’s first end-to-end CubeSat solutions, it supports satellite communications for both ground and space segments.

By combining the powerful XLink SDR Platform with WORK Microwave’s AX-60 IP modem, operators have an affordable, one-stop-shop solution for new space applications, including low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite missions for Earth observation.

InCommand with XLink-L

InCommand service is able to provide dynamic affordable and real-time L-Band capacity for LEO satellites anywhere on the globe. It provides operational efficient communication links for time-sensitive applications such as Earth Observation (EO) or spacecraft operations via Inmarsat’s geostationary ELERA network. No additional ground network infrastructure is required. We have designed, implemented, and tested the first XLink L-Band transceiver that will use the Inmarsat’s InCommand service.

IQ spacecom and Addvalue to cooperate on the development of InCommand, the new on-demand TM/TC service

IQ Technologies for Earth and Space GmbH (IQ spacecom) and Addvalue Solutions Pte Ltd (Addvalue) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development and marketing of the recently announced Inmarsat ELERA based InCommand service.

The InCommand solution has been developed by Inmarsat and is enabled via dynamic on-demand L-band capacity allocation over Inmarsat’s highly reliable ELERA geostationary (GEO) satellites. The solution aims to provide dynamic and affordable L-Band capacity on-demand anywhere in low earth orbit and will be well suited for time-sensitive space applications such as Earth Observations or Disaster Management that require occasional on-demand contact with the LEO satellite without having to wait for a ground station pass.

In combination with Addvalue’s operational experience with its well-established IDRS™ service, and IQ spacecom’s XLink-L transceiver technology, both companies anticipate benefits from their cooperation to provide this innovative variant of data connectivity to the LEO satellite industry.  Working together IQ spacecom and Addvalue plan to jointly explore and develop business opportunities in providing communications solutions for LEO satellites, starting with InCommand. IQ spacecom and Addvalue are aiming to collaborate on solutions for any LEO satellite communication challenge on a long-term basis.

XLink advanced transceiver system now also supports DVB-S2 as an alternative to the CCSDS protocols.

This further development enables the transmission of higher data rates at very low bandwidth, especially pratical in S-Band.

Both protocols are fully compatible with WORK Microvawe's AX-60 modem, making the bundle even more flexible.

XLink as well as the 19-inch rack-mount modem, provide easy-to-use, straightforward connectivity.

Low cost, lightweight system for instant tasking of cubesats and small LEO satellites demonstrated by Inmarsat and IQ spacecom

Successful test confirms Inmarsat technology and IQ spacecom product, launched at ILA Air Show in Berlin

Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications has launched InCommand with a transceiver from IQ spacecom, a division of IQ Technologies for Earth and Space GmbH of Germany at the ILA Air Show in Berlin (Hall 6 booth 432). The ELERA-powered InCommand capability from Inmarsat enables instant commanding and telemetry on-demand for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

InCommand provides a global tasking capability via Inmarsat’s ELERA L-band GEO satellites using IQ spacecom’s low-cost and low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) transceiver for cubesat and smaller LEO satellites.

The low-cost XLink-L receiver and transmitter, which weighs 200 grams (7 ounces) is ideal for cubesat operators. The InCommand system will request dynamically Inmarsat L-band capacity, globally in real-time, for tasking and commanding cubesat and smaller LEO satellites via Inmarsat’s GEO network. Even the polar areas are in line of sight for the GEO-LEO link.

A successful ground test took place in May 2022, using an adaptation of the IQ spacecom heritage unit, XLink‑S transceiver, adapted to Inmarsat’s L-band ELERA network enabling two-way communications from an operator to a GEO satellite to the ground-based transceiver and back. This successful test will be followed by an in-orbit demonstration.
